“东亚文化之都”是一张由中日韩三国共同创立的国际文化城市金名片，为当选城市和各国提供了一个“内涵丰富、外延广阔、充满活力”的国际交流平台。

今年适逢温州举办“2022东亚文化之都·中国温州活动年，为发挥温州独有优势，促进“东亚文化之都”与“欧洲文化之都”城市间的交流与合作，在全国上下喜迎国庆到来之际，温州市文化广电旅游局联合温州市人民政府外事办公室共同推出“西鹣东鲽——欧洲文化之都艺术精品展”，通过凝聚海外资源优势，加强温州与欧洲城市的对话，传递多元的文化与艺术之美，促进民心相通。

温州是中国重点侨乡，有近70万温州人遍布于世界130多个国家和地区。多年来，温州市人民政府致力于让温州籍海外侨胞成为传播温州文化乃至中国文化的媒介和使者，“以侨为桥”举办了各类文化艺术交流活动。同时，与35个城市（含16个欧洲城市）缔结为国际友好城市或建立友好交流关系，实施文化交流100余次。

作为温州市人民政府“2022东亚文化之都·中国温州活动年”的重点项目，“西鹣东鲽——欧洲文化之都艺术精品展”得到了法国温州籍华裔吴静女士及社会各界的鼎力支持。本次现场展出其所藏古典雕塑、油画及家具作品36件，在为广大观众创造更多了解欣赏18至19世纪时期欧洲文化艺术的同时，也将为专业人士研究该时期雕塑艺术提供重要的契机，以文化交流促进文明对话，让温州更好地了解世界，让温州更好地融入世界，让更多海内外温州人成为对外友好交流的参与者、推动者与见证者。

 “Culture City of East Asia” is a “golden name card” awarded to the cities with international cultural influence in China, Japan and the ROK. All the countries, especially the designated cities, will benefit from this substantive, broad-based and vibrant platform for international exchanges.

This year marks the 2022 Year of Culture City of East Asia which is hosted by Wenzhou, the city honored the title in 2021. As China is celebrating its 73^rd National Day, Wenzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting and Tourism, together with Wenzhou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, stages an exhibition titled West Meets East – European Fine Art Exhibition to fully display the city’s unique charm and promote exchanges and cooperation between “Culture City of East Asia” and “European Capital of Culture”. By pooling the overseas resources, the event showcases diverse culture and arts and is expected to strengthen the bonds between Wenzhou and European cities.

Nearly 700,000 Wenzhouese are now living in more than 130 countries and regions around the world, making Wenzhou China’s famous hometown of overseas Chinese. Committed to supporting overseas Wenzhouese in their efforts to promote Wenzhou and Chinese culture, Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government has hosted various cultural and art exchange events over the years. The city has now established sister city or friendly relations with 35 cities outside of China (including 16 European cities), hosting over 100 cultural exchanges events.

Listed by the local authorities as a key project of the 2022 Year of Culture City of East Asia, the exhibition is supported by Ms. Wu Jing, an overseas Chinese national from Wenzhou, and many others from all walks of life. A total of 36 pieces of classical sculptures, oil paintings and furniture are unveiled in Wenzhou, enabling the visitors to feast their eyes on the European arts and culture from the 18^th to 19^th centuries. It is also an important opportunity to carry out the studies on the sculptures of this time period, and cultural exchanges and dialogues among different civilizations. Thus, Wenzhou will better understand and integrate into the world, with more Wenzhouese becoming the participants, promoters and witnesses of China’s friendly relations with other countries.
